Delhi University mid-entry brings 2,589 more applicants into seat allocation

Delhi University added 2,589 fresh applicants to the undergraduate admission process through a mid-entry window after the second allocation list.

The university had allowed new applicants and existing candidates to modify preferences between September 3 and 5. The new entrants are now part of the competition for seats in the next allocation phase.

About 12,000 seats remained vacant across colleges and programmes after two allocation lists. The largest gaps were reported among ST and PwD categories, while some science and language programmes also had seats available for general and other categories.

Mid-entry is relevant to students who could not apply through the Common Seat Allocation System in the first phase or who want to revise previously submitted preferences. But changing preferences should be based on course details, eligibility and practical affordability rather than only on the college name.

Applicants should follow the university’s official calendar and check whether a new preference changes their eligibility or reporting obligations. Admission systems reward attention to deadlines as much as academic performance.
